The Puerto Rico Pulse: A Short Story | The Sanctuary

"The Puerto Rico Pulse"

"He is a man of little words who leaves without a sound. But while he navigates the Caribbean Sea, I am navigating a different kind of tide. A message pings from Puerto Rico with a 'Saturday' promise, but some conversations are better held in the stillness of the Sanctuary than on a screen."

A secretive, stylized portrait of a man in sunglasses, rendered in translucent shades of indigo and sea-blue. He appears like a digital apparition overlaid with nautical charts and maps of Puerto Rico. In the background, the historic fortifications of Old San Juan meet the crashing Atlantic waves at twilight, representing a message sent from across the water and a promise of a Saturday return.

They call him a man of little words. In the Sanctuary, we know that silence isn't always empty; sometimes it’s just a holding pattern.

Wildflowers Don't Ask Permission to Bloom: The Poetry of Resilient Growing

The Full "Sunset Anchor" Poem πŸ–‹️πŸŒ…

"I noticed something strange at the office yesterday: the harder I mopped, the more the hidden footprints appeared—a reminder that our journey leaves a mark we aren't meant to erase."

A beautiful St. Lucian wildflower with small red petals and a gold center, growing stubbornly but brightly out of a rough, natural stone wall at sunset. In the background, the two Piton mountains frame the horizon, and the Caribbean Sea reflects the orange glow. The text of the poem 'Wildflowers Don't Care Where They Bloom' is clearly integrated into the sky above the sea, along with the HH anchor logo in the corner.

Wildflowers Don't Care Where They Bloom

The mop hits the tile, a rhythm of clean,

Yet the shadows of footprints remain to be seen.

The harder I scrub to make the floor bright,

The more the path taken comes into the light.

But like wildflowers growing through cracks in the stone,

I’ll bloom in the spaces I’ve already known.

I don’t need a garden, a blueprint, or row—

I just need the courage to let the heart grow.

The marks of the journey, the dark and the light,

Are simply the maps of my heart in its flight.

I’ll stop trying to mop every footprint away—

And just let the Sanctuary bloom through the gray. 🌸⚓️

Stay rhythmic, — HH

The Root’s Resilience: A Poem on Finding Strength in the Quiet

In my previous reflection, A Poem on Disappointment and Letting Go], I shared the heavy hush that follows a loss. But today, I found what happens when the silence lingers long enough to become a sanctuary...

The Root’s Resilience

A bird's nest with young fledglings tucked safely under large green leaves in St. Lucia, symbolizing a sanctuary of inner joy and quiet resilience.
Evidence of the quiet work. A sanctuary found in the unfolding.

The bloom has fallen,

scattered like a soft surrender

to the earth that once held its weight.

There is a grace in the going—

a silence that isn't empty,

but expectant and deep.

Below the surface,

where the world forgets to look,

the heart is busy being still.

It isn’t a passive waiting;

it is the heavy, holy work

of anchoring in the dark.

While the branches reach for what was,

the roots are drinking what is—

turning the "not yet" into

a steady, rhythmic pulse.

Look up into the shelter of the leaves—

a hidden nest, a cradled breath,

where life is tucked away from the wind.

It is the joy that finds the inner being

when we stop searching for the sun

and start trusting the shade.

And then, a whisper in the wild—

not a shout, but a steady soft green,

breaking through the heavy hush.

It is the heart’s new "yes,"

unfolding,

rhythmic,

undeniable.

The homecoming has begun.

The Command of Stillness: When the Protector Speaks

When the Protector calls the Architect to rest.

"We often mistake 'strength' for the ability to carry it all—the laundry, the hustle, the 1,000-view milestones, and the heavy bricks of the day. But this Saturday, my Protector reminded me from across the miles that the greatest strength is actually found in laying it all down. He didn't ask for my productivity. He didn't ask for a report. He asked for my peace.

He saw the 'Workaholic' still trying to sand the edges of the evening, and he commanded the 'Amazing Woman' to come forth instead. This is what happens when you stop being the Architect of the grind and start being the Masterpiece of the home."

A close-up of a hand holding a small glass of red wine, resting on the wooden arm of a chair.
Current-less nights and high-noon hustles taught me one thing: Rest is a requirement, not a reward. ⚓️ Taking a page out of my own book today and choosing 'simple and relaxed' over 'busy and burdened.' Stay rhythmic, everyone. πŸ•Š️πŸ§ΊπŸ‘‹

The Unmarked Part IV: The Sentinel’s Integrity

"I left my keys and my phone in the world, but I didn't lose my way home. Tonight, the stillness is my Sentinel. A birthday tribute to the one who guards the horizon and reminds me that stability never begs."

A peaceful Saint Lucian balcony at twilight with glowing tea-light candles, a stack of bricks, and a steamer of coffee, overlooking a lone boat on the Caribbean horizon.
Real strength comes from integrity." A birthday tribute to the Sentinel and the quiet rhythm of the Sanctuary. ⚓️πŸ•―️

Unmasked Heart (Part III): The Sanctuary Found

Mesi for joining me on this journey. We’ve walked through the bright lights of The Show and the quiet weight of The Shadows. Today, after a morning spent in the rhythmic ritual of self-care (shoutout to my 168+ YouTube family!), we finally arrive. This is the moment the bricks stop being a burden and start being a home.

A romantic digital painting of a woman with curly hair (The Architect) and her protector embracing by a window at sunset in St. Lucia. A glowing heart is visible on her chest, symbolizing her unmasked vulnerability. A coffee cup, an anchor charm, and a phone with a sweet message sit on a table nearby.
Unmasked Heart (Part III: The Sanctuary Found. 🧱✨ Today the water washed away the show. No more shields, just the 'sweet' realization that I am finally home. The finale drops at 5:00 AM for the Guardians. ⚓️πŸ‡±πŸ‡¨ #UnmaskedHeart #HumbleLove #SaintLucia

The Unmasked Heart Part II: Love, Shadows, and the Honest Note

The Architect’s Note: We build walls to keep the world out, but sometimes, we accidentally lock ourselves in. True connection isn't just seeing the light; it’s being brave enough to sit together in the dark.

A dramatic silhouette of a bridge at sunset in St. Lucia, showing the contrast between light and deep shadows, representing the hidden connection between two people.

I invited you behind the curtain, To see the bricks and the mortar of the soul. But you’re a man of quiet places, a silent warden, Who likes the shadows where the heart stays whole.

The Unmasked Heart, Part I: The Show πŸŽπŸ’Ž

The Architect’s Note: We spend so much time perfecting the performance that we forget to check who bought a ticket.

The curtain is coming down on the performance. I’m tired of the 'Workaholic’s Show' and the painted smiles. It’s time to see who stays when the stage goes dark and the bridge gets quiet. This isn't just a poem; it's a renovation of the heart.

The Unmasked Heart: A Reflection on Distance & Devotion

A serene image of a lit candle near a window or a heart-shaped stone, representing the light of prayer and the resilience of a gem in the Sanctuary.
Distance has a way of acting as a mirror. It strips away the noise of the daily hustle and unmasks our inner thoughts, forcing us to see what—and who—really anchors us.
