🐾 The Scattering & The Seed
The veranda holds a quiet crowd when the evening is sweet,
Lingering shadows waiting for a comfortable seat.
They gather for the stories, the laughter, the trend,
Crowding the doorway, posing as a friend.
They look like fine mangoes hanging high on the tree,
Bright on the outside, as sweet as can be.
But a polished skin can hide a decaying heart—
You only see the inside when things fall apart.
Like stray cats startled by the opening door,
They scatter to the darkness, footsteps on the floor.
When things go south and the comfort clears away,
You learn exactly who is built to stay.
Let them run into the night, let the shadows part,
A clearing of the porch is a clearing of the heart.
For the ones who stand steady when the storms begin to roll,
Are the only ones invited to the sanctuary of your soul.
