The Distance Between Bricks: A Poem on Long Distance Love & Silent Strength"
You are away, but not a moment passes that my mind doesn't drift to you—wondering what is going on in that beautiful head of yours. I wonder if you’ve eaten, if you’re sleeping okay, or if you’re feeling the same pull across the sea.
The blueprint didn't warn me about the hollow, The way the mortar cracks when you’re not here to hold the line. I’m a master of the build, but a novice in this sorrow, Chasing a shadow across the salt and the brine.
My heart is racing, my body is weak, and my mind is uneasy, Days have gone by, weeks have passed into the blue. I haven't heard from you—this silence is far too heavy, And I am yearning for the words that lead me back to you.
Every moment, I crave your touch, your voice, your breath, This quiet has gone too far; the distance is a ghost. I need to hear or read your words again, to beat back death, And find the anchor in the one I love the most.
I’ll keep the anchor silent, deep beneath the blue, I’ll bleed into the bricks so you stay on the surface. Missing the protector... while I protect you,
Waiting for the word that gives this wait a purpose.
The wait is only half the story. To see how the silence finally broke and the morning brought its reward, follow the link to Part 2: The Morning Link-Up." ⚓️🌅➡️
